Emily & Owens stunning Cotswold wedding at Caswell House.
Light & airy photographer with a film like finish
Located in the heart of the Cotswold, Caswell House is a breathtakingly beautiful venue that radiates a sophisticated romantic charm. With its honey-hued stone walls, light rustic barn and pristine gardens, it’s the perfect backdrop for a picturesque English countryside wedding. I have been luckily enough to shoot at Caswell House over the last few years for other photographers and was over the moon when my first Caswell House enquiry popped into my emails. I had the pleasure of capturing Emily & Owen’s wedding in May 2024 and I cannot wait to share their stunning day with you!
Emily was searching for a light and airy style photographer when she discovered my work through a past collaboration with her chosen florist. I was absolutely delighted that my style was exactly what she envisioned— my soft, pastel tones beautifully complementing her sage green and white colour palette, along with the stone-coloured suits.
If you're looking for a light & airy photographer with a film-like, ethereal finish for your wedding at Caswell House, you’ll want someone who specialises in soft, natural lighting, pastel tones, and romantic, timeless imagery.
the venue
Caswell House is a 15th-century manor house and barns surrounded by acres of rolling countryside. With its stunning rustic barns, manicured gardens, and exclusive-use policy, it provides an intimate and elegant setting for couples looking to celebrate their love in style. From the moment guests arrive, they are greeted with the charm of ancient stone, ivy-clad walls, and the soft hum of nature. With it’s endless photo possiblities, it is easy to see why so many couples fall in love with Caswell House.
Bridal prep
The day began with excitement and anticipation as the Bridal party prepared in the getting-ready suite.
Surrounded by 6 best friends and her Mum, Emily’s morning was filled with a girly pamper of hair and makeup by professional artists, while popping open some pink fizz to kick start the celebrations.
I always start photographing the bride details in an elegant flat lay, including shoes, rings, invites, jewellery and perfume. It’s alway fun to get shot of the Bride and her Bridesmaids getting ready together, it probably brings back many memories of getting ready for nights out!
Reveal moments have become a big part of morning prep with both Bridesmaids and Father of the Bride. It’s such an exciting moment for everyone to see the reveal and amazing to capture reactions in the shots.
the ceremony
The couple chose to exchange their vows in Caswell House’s idyllic indoor barn in front of their closest family and friends. As Emily walked down the aisle, Owen waited in anticipation while there wasn’t a dry eye in sight. One of the Bridesmaids gave a beautiful reading before the couple exchanged vows and rings. The heartfelt ceremony felt like something out of a fairytale. Exiting the aisle Emily gave a cheer with her bouquet in the air and the couple stopped for a kiss half way down making some amazing photo opportunities.
get ready to throw
Are you ready to throw? Caswell House only allows the dried petals for the confetti, I suggest having large baskets so guests can grab a handful which will have a better impact on your photo’s than the amount you get in the confetti cones or confetti packets.
You are going to get covered in confetti so have some fun with it and don’t hinde behind your bouquet as the camera won’t see your face.
drinks reception
A drinks reception at Caswell House is always an elegant and charming affair, set within the stunning surroundings of this historic Cotswolds venue. Whether held in the picturesque courtyard gardens or the warm and inviting bar and barn areas, the atmosphere is one of romance and refined luxury.
Guests are welcomed with a glass of Champagne, Prosecco, or a signature cocktail as they mingle in the beautifully landscaped gardens, surrounded by Cotswold stone walls. I always love seeing your guests at this moment in the day, everyone is excited to congratulate you both on lying the knot and they can’t wait to give you a huge hug. This is the best opportunity for me to get lots of candid shots of you both mingling with your guests, you won’t even notice me there! I will keep on eye on the time for you to ensure you get plenty of social time with your guests.
group photos
After a relaxing drinks reception we move onto the formal family photo’s. Guests can enjoy the tranquil surroundings while sipping their drinks and eating canopies while soaking in the atmosphere as we go off to do your formal photos. I do advise not to go over the top with your group shots and keep it to your closest family members and bridal party, as this can eat up a lot of your time.
Making your formal photos informal!
Your formal photos don’t need to be too formal. I always like to take one shot with everyone looking towards the camera and then we can mix it up a little with some more natural in between shots and some walking shots.
styling details
Emily and Owen chose to go with sophistication when it came to their floral arrangements and styling details.
Timeless elegance in every detail. Soft green and pure white florals with hints of gold create a serene, refined atmosphere for a celebration of love. Subtle yet stunning, these lush arrangements bring natural beauty to every moment, embodying grace and simplicity.
couples portraits
Caswell House’s walled gardens, ancient stone archways, and scenic lakeside spots make for the perfect backdrop for capturing timeless photographs. I will take you away from your guests for your portrait photo’s giving you a breather together. We can take a walk around your venue using different areas as the backdrop to your photos. I’ll give you some direction and prompts to help make you both feel relaxed and the results looking more natural.
speeches
Wedding speeches are a heartfelt and memorable part of the celebration. Whether held in the beautiful stone-walled dining barn or a more intimate space, the speeches create a perfect moment of laughter, love, and emotion. This is a great opportunity for me to get more guests reactions and candid moments.
evening reception
More time for you and your guests to catch up over some drinks and even time for some more group shots with friends. Maybe it’s time for the shoots come out and take this wedding up a notch!
evening couple portraits
During the summer we get blessed with more daylight and longer days. When the light changes to a softer golden hue, it’s exciting to take this opportunity to do a few more photo’s of the two of you. Caswell has a stunning bridge that provides a beautiful backdrop while the light changes.
As the sun sets it’s the perfect time to get a Prosecco spray shot and get your bridal party involved! It’s a fun way to kick to evening party off with a pop! Don’t worry you won’t get wet if you follow my lead.
cake & 1st dance
Cutting the cake usually happens before the first dance when more evening guest have arrive. Your first dance song should reflect your relationship, personality, and the atmosphere you want to create. Whether it’s a classic slow dance, a fun choreographed routine, or something completely unique, this moment sets the tone for the evening celebrations.
Emily obviously loves a good party and dance!
